Recess on the last day

Nadia of course couldn't even get along with anyone, even on the last day and had to sit out. Unable to stay silent she was asking a million questions. Then she asked why I didn't have a husband I thought I would be able to deflect the question with a question (WRONG!) so I asked why her mom wasn't married. She informed me she was waiting until she found a Jehovah witness, she didn't want no church boy. Then she was back to me and my empty left hand so I said well Nadia I am waiting until I find a boy who can fix stuff for me and she quickly pointed to Justine's dad ( you know the one who comes and stays the entire day and even sits criss cross while I do a read aloud- yea no thanks!) and she goes seriously Miss Scott I bet he can fix bikes and everything I mean look at his hands, they are dirty! Then she said ohhhhh I know! MY dad! You could marry him- he can definitely fix stuff!!!
While Nadia was busy brainstorming who to set me up with Zoe and Bella were "doing my hair" and talking about it. They said they loved my hair because it was soft and shiny. Zoe says sometimes people go to the beauty shop with nappy hair. Bella corrected her and told her that you can't call the patients hair nappy- even if it is! You have to call them tender headed.
Have I mentioned I will miss them terribly!

Is it really over!?!

I can't believe this year is over... it has flown by! We had our beach themed party that was a lot of fun.

Then I sent them home with autograph books and a card from me... I have to say I am more than a little sad to see them go.

That won't work on me!

So it's the end of the year and teaching in my classroom is, well, non existent. (Unless you are Judy reading this and in that case they are totally engaged every second!)
Today I split all the kids up into pairs (of their own choosing) and gave them a sheet of paper and they were to write a sentence about what they liked about 1st grade and then draw a picture of that thing. I was sitting at my desk and all of a sudden I hear Zachary say to Gabe "that is totally not going to work on me!" I look up to see what he was talking about and I saw this:
Gabe was making a pouty face because he wanted to color in the picture and so did Zachary... I guess he was trying to use his power of persuassion but Zachary was quick to tell him that would not work on HIM!

philosophical conversations with a kindergartner...

Today during d.e.a.r time Vincent came to read to me. He was reading about sleep and starting talking about how sometimes his brain won't sleep and he lays in his bed thinking about things. When I asked him what he thought about I fully expected him to tell me about tee ball and lego...simple stuff. Instead he told me that he thought about "going down there... you know hell..." He then explained to me that God and Jesus were in Heaven and they only like good things and sometimes he does bad things. I dared to ask what bad things he thought he has done and he told me that one week he got his name covered up in Kindergarten and that was a very bad thing! Sweet child....

Grandma Carol Ann

Big sunglasses, bigger bags and tacky jewelry.... I miss my grandma... I think we were way more alike than I ever realized.

*side note... the last photo is not me being narcissistic it is me showing off my grandmother's ring she left me.
