New favorite person? Chris S!
On Friday Elizabeth and I were shocked when Chris said her son surprised her by coming into town and she was giving us her Carrie Underwood tickets!!!! We ate at Kabuki then Scott chauffeured us to the civic center.
We had good seats that turned great when she rode a blue pickup truck over the audience and sang a song about 5 feet in front of us!
The only bad part about the whole concert was when the drunk woman beside us left :)
We even took a baby's first concert shot! Unfortunately venturing away from our seat ran us right into Gale.....

In case there were any questions.....
...this girl is the very best friend a girl could ask for!
When an ex-Fishburn teacher showed up after school (I am sure to do bodily harm to me) Elizabeth hid out with me in the teacher's (1 person) bathroom, pretended to be sick so we could escape the bathroom and then made sure the coast was clear so I could leave school-unharmed!
I love you Elizabeth Overstreet! :)

1 day down... how many more to go?!?!
Whoever said there is always a honeymoon period at the beginning of the school year lied! My throat is sore, I am exhausted and I am fairly sure I got nothing on my lesson plan sheet done today. I didn't even get a picture of the 1st day of school. What in the world. It is going to be a long, long year.

I picked a color!
I spent more money on paint samples than anything else... I hate being indecisive!
This contact paper is my favorite! Thank goodness for Target!
After living in chaos I am almost finished with the kitchen! I love the way it turned out... of course now I am obsessively shopping for new things to put in there... (I will save so much money when we go back to school and I am not shopping alllll day). I can't wait for Bill to come and help redo the floor! The best part is that I did this ALONE! Took the cabinet doors off, taped up the room, painted the cabinets, put in new contact paper, drilled holes and added new hardware, put the cabinet doors back on and painted the wall. It was so much more work than I thought but soooo worth it!
Almost there... shopping again to today for a few things to finish up and then making curtains! :)

I have painted each room in my house. Each room that is except for the kitchen. I have put it off for lots of reasons but after reading online about how easy it was to paint kitchen cabinets I thought I was ready to tackle the kitchen. I think I already regret it. But I am so very tired of the knotty pine cabinets and white walls so here we go...
I started by taking e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g out of the cabinets and room and piled it in the already too small dining room :(
Since I thought I had already picked a color this was no problem. I was going to prime and paint and be done in a day. Then after I really thought about it I decided that painting the walls brown would not be the best idea. Unfortunately, this thought process took place after the kitchen looked like this:
Not only did I start second guessing my paint choice but the terrible tile floor started to stick out muchhhh more. There was only one thing for me to do... call my Uncle Bill! I'd like to say I sweet talked him but I think he was two steps ahead of me anyway and was already thinking about coming to Virginia (I'm sure because he misses me soooo much) anyway here are some beautiful kitchens I found while looking for a color to use... yes I am aware my kitchen will never look like these but it's nice to dream....

making things makes me happy
I wish I could take credit for any of these ideas but I actually found them all online and made them my own. I have to say I love them all and I wish I could come up with these things myself.
First I found a .50 cent picture frame at a yard sale:
I spray painted it, glued some fabric onto the backing, cleaned the glass and made it the centerpiece of my coffee table:
I love the way it turned out and have had to control myself from buying every picture frame I see to create trays for every empty spot in my house!
I bought a drill awhile back and I finally bought masonry drill bits so that I could hang a few things on my deck that have been hanging out in my basement wayyyy to long. I put them up this morning and realized I needed to add something to the little box underneath the mirrored window. Then I remembered a cute set of little birdies some way crafty lady had done for her daughter and figured I could try to recreate a few for the box. Here is my drill I have fell in love with and the things it helped me hang on my deck.
I found some scraps of fabric that were my great grandmothers and started making the birdies!
I made a bird template- ironed and cut out the fabric.
Sewed together both sides- cut out a heart from felt and attached it for the wing.
Stuffed birdie and sewed on the beak...
Sewed up his tummy and glued on an eye

Bathroom Makeover
Inspiration from Bed Bath and Beyond.
Before- all white and make shift curtain.
new paint, new shower curtain, new rug and new bamboo shade.
old white cabinets with gold handles...yuck
purple cabinets with silver handles...yay!
White shelf turned purple...
matching picture and grey wall.
who can pass up a paint sale at home depot? clearly not me. this bathroom makeover was long over due! i like the way the colors turned out but i wish i knew how to fix the other stuff too... i want new lights and a new mirror and i want the gold plated accessories gone! oh well maybe in time- all i know is that if those things ever do get switched out they are going to have to match the grey and purple paint because i NEVER want to paint that room again!
